Not all motors are equally efficient
Choosing electric motors over pneumatic and hydraulic solution, is well known to be the most efficient choice, but there is also big differences between the electric motors.
Optimized Power Efficiency of stepper motors

One of the big benefits of building the motor and controller together, is that all the parts are calibrated together.
Not all motors and controllers are identical, and at JVL, every single motor is calibrated after assembly, to ensure the highest possible efficiency and performance.
The k-phase is one of many adjustments we do at our factory in Denmark. Below is a whole article about just this parameter set, but here is one of the simplest ways of showing just how fine tuned our motors are:
After a full calibration, our massive integrated 12 Nm MIS343 can run 3000 RPM with only 24 VDC as supply voltage!
