The JVL IO-Link is now built into the IO connectors of a JVL motor.

IO-Link is becoming increasingly popular as low cost alternative to Ethernet and other serial protocols.
JVL motors can now also connect to IO-Link with a build in IO-Link for fast and easy interface. It does not use external gateway or CPU but communicate directly with JVL main microprocessor for fast response time. Normally would you think IO-Link with a 230 kbit serial communication is a slow compared to Ethernet but with JVL FastMAC 2 byte protocol can response time <1mS be achieved.
IO-link will be supported on all new JVL motors like MAC motor® integrated servo MACxx04/02 series and ServoStep™ integrated MISxx stepper motors.

					   JVL’s IO-Link features:

					- AOI and function block available for Rockwell and Siemens PLC

					- IODD files for plug and play simplified Integration to PLC, supporting the different JVL modes of operation

					- Data storage for easy commissioning and replacement Event handling for timestamped diagnostics

					- Any IO-Link master will be able to control the motor

					- All motion functions can be controlled through the IO-Link channel

					- All motor registers can be read or write

					- ModeFM ultra compact processdata format with 2 byte for extremely low IO-Link cycletime <1mS

					- One cable with both Power and IO-Link for low power applications

					- Minimize stock Available with both IO-Link and Ethernet based communication

					- Easy commissioning using IODD files and Parametrization directly from the IO-Link master

						- Mode66 for 6 in and 6 out registers similar to the well known JVL Ethernet concept

						- Mode88 for 8 in and 8 out 100% user configurable register setup, similar to the well known JVL Ethernet concept

						- Conformance tool tested and passed

						- IO-Link standard 1.1.4 supported

						- Specialized Gripper mode Simple control with high servo-controlled accuracy

				Typical applications:

						- Format adjustment. Replacement of handwheel adjustment

						- Gripper with high precision and dynamics using the JVL ServoStepper control system

						- Pick and place operations. Move between 2-8 pre-selected positions with pre-configured velocity, acceleration and torque setting

						- Air-cylinder replacement with precise acceleration and speed control

						- Setup axis, only requiring a minimal bandwidth and no hard timing or synchronization requirement

The measured system cycletime is based on a data value set from the PLC in the motor and read back again.
As a reference an EthernetIP equipped MIS motor has a system cycletime of 3 ms, based on 1 ms RPI.
